New kitchen countertops? Plan the plumbing reconnection early.

At a San Diego property, our team removed sink plumbing and capped the water connections so countertop work could proceed. We returned after the new countertops were installed.

The return visit included a customer-supplied kitchen faucet, disposal, air switch, and the associated filter and drain connections. A separate bar sink also needed its faucet, basket strainer, and drain connected. The completion notes record functioning fixtures and no leaks during the final tests.

A kitchen sink can have several connections beyond the hot and cold water. Tell the office about the disposal, dishwasher connection, filtered-water equipment, separate drinking-water faucet, and any accessory controls that are part of your installation. Describe only the equipment you actually have.

Include any bar sink or second preparation sink affected by the project. A clear list helps everyone understand the return visit and reduces surprises. Photos of the existing cabinet interior are useful before the countertop work starts.

Ask the countertop contractor when the sink and surrounding work will be ready for plumbing reconnection. Follow the relevant product instructions for adhesives, sealants, and any waiting period before the sink is used or loaded. There is no single schedule that fits every installation.

Confirm that the faucet and accessory openings match the fixtures you intend to use. Share model information before holes are drilled. Changes in sink depth or outlet position can also affect the drain arrangement beneath the counter.

Keep the fixture boxes and installation instructions together. Clear the cabinet and identify anything being reused. Let the plumber assess the condition and suitability of existing connectors and drain components rather than assuming every old part will fit the new arrangement.

If water shutdowns require building access or management approval, arrange that coordination in advance. Tell the dispatcher which parts of the kitchen remain usable and whether other work will be happening at the same time.

Ask what equipment was connected and what was tested. The sink, faucet, drainage, and any included accessories should be discussed as separate parts of the finished work. Confirm when the sink can return to use under the relevant installation instructions.
