Dripping tub spout? A shower cartridge repair in Carlsbad

The reported symptom was continuous dripping from the tub spout while the shower control was off. The technician identified a faulty cartridge in the older Delta valve and documented significant calcium buildup in the valve body and around the cartridge.

With the building water supply shut off, the technician removed the trim and cartridge. The work then involved locating the correct replacement, cleaning the existing valve body and installing the new cartridge. The record notes visits to two supply houses to obtain the needed part.

This visit replaced the cartridge inside the existing shower valve. The service record does not describe replacing the complete valve or remodeling the shower. After installing the cartridge, the technician reinstalled the trim and checked the repair once water was restored. No leaks were observed during that check.

An accessible photo of the handle and trim can provide context, but it may not establish the exact internal part. Avoid ordering a cartridge solely because it resembles the removed one in this article.

Describe whether water continues to drip with the control fully off, how long it has been happening and whether other fixtures are affected. Mention a stiff handle, visible water around the trim or any previous repair as separate observations.
